Overview
Customers may open support requests for assistance in setting up call forwarding to their FaxMaker Online numbers. This article provides important information on how to address these requests.
A common use case scenario is when FaxMaker on-premise customers wish to migrate to FaxMaker Online and are unsure whether to port their fax numbers or wondering if it is possible to forward faxes to FaxMaker Online from their on-premise or hosted telephony infrastructure such as Zoom Phone.
Information
FaxMaker and FaxMaker Online are two completely separate products and can each can function independently. In order to use FaxMaker Online, you must sign up for the service and create a free trial account.
A generic fax number will be assigned to your account when you sign up for the service. However, if you wish to maintain your existing fax numbers it is essential to port your fax numbers to FaxMaker Online or otherwise Contact GFI Sales to purchase new fax numbers. Note that the porting feature is only supported on accounts with paid subscriptions, not on trial accounts.
FaxMaker Online does not support remote call forwarding of off-network numbers (such as on-premise fax solutions e.g FaxMaker or hosted telephony platforms such as Zoom Phone) to FaxMaker Online. Customers must port their numbers so that faxes are routed directly to FaxMaker Online as fax forwarding is not supported.
