FaxMaker Online Compatibility with Exchange Online

Overview

Customers using FaxMaker Online with on-premise email systems such as Microsoft Exchange may want to switch to hosted Email such as Exchange Online (included in Office 365 subscriptions) or Google Workspace (Gmail).

This article provides information to customers wondering whether users whose mailboxes have been migrated to hosted Email services can send and receive faxes through FaxMaker Online.

Information

FaxMaker Online is fully compatible with all on-premise and hosted/web-based Email clients for sending and receiving faxes.

The administrator should proceed with one of the following options depending on whether the on-premise Email environment will be retained alongside the hosted Email, and whether or not they require users to have the ability to send/receive faxes through both accounts:

  1. If the email address has not changed for the user sending faxes after the migration process, no further changes are necessary for the user to continue sending and receiving faxes through FaxMaker Online.
  2. If the email addresses change and there is no requirement to continue faxing using the old accounts, the administrator should Update the Faxing settings for the users with the new email address.
  3. If the email address changes and the users require the ability to fax from both accounts, the administrator should Add the new email and Assign a fax number for the users to be able to send and receive faxes through FaxMaker Online using either account.

The procedure to send faxes described in Sending Faxes From Your Email Using FaxMaker Online is the same regardless of whether a user is using Outlook or a web-based email client belonging to a hosted Email service.

Inbound faxes are sent to the recipients through email, regardless of whether the Email server is on-premise or cloud-based.
