Overview
This article describes the supported ways through which FaxMaker Online users can receive inbound faxes.
Information
FaxMaker Online users must be assigned a dedicated fax number before they can receive inbound faxes.
By default, received faxes are forwarded to the user via Email. Third-party applications can also be configured to download emails directly from the GFI FaxMaker Online servers via Inbound Web Services API.
Receiving faxes via Email
When a fax is received, FaxMaker Online converts the fax to a configurable format, such as PDF.
Depending on which number the fax was received, FaxMaker Online sends the fax via Email to the receiving email address. The Email contains a fax report and the fax file included as an attachment. For more information refer to User faxing settings.

Inbound Web Services
The GFI FaxMaker Online Inbound Application Programming Interface (API) enables third-party applications to download and receive faxes directly from the GFI FaxMaker Online servers through web services (APIs).
For more information refer to the Inbound Web Services Developer Guide.
