FaxMaker Online accounts created after December of 2020 may experience the inability to receive faxes. When these fax numbers are called you will get a busy tone in response. This article provides the reasoning why this is happening and how to resolve it.
Due to changes with Germany's policy on issuing phone numbers within their country, when a new fax number is issued, by FaxMaker Online, for example, more information is required for the fax number for our carrier to validate the fax number with German Telco. Previously only a valid Handelsregisterauszug (German Commercial Register) was required. As of 12/02/2020, a Personalausweis (German identity card) is also now required. The busy tone when dialed is directly related to the fact we cannot register the number without the registration information being reviewed and accepted by our carrier.
If you are unable to receive faxes and the fax numbers are busy when called, you may be able to send a fax to yourself from FaxMaker Online to FaxMaker Online and that would be successful as it is internal to FaxMaker Online and does not involve German Telco, follow the steps below:
- Open a ticket with GFI Support.
- When opening the ticket, including your symptoms and a copy of your Handlesregistrar and Personalausweis and fax number. This documentation will have to have addresses within the area code of the assigned number. If the number you were assigned has an area code that does not match your address, please let us know and include what area code is required to match your address.
- Once we have the information, it may take some time if a new number needs to be reassigned and then information be sent off for review by the carrier.
- We will then notify you as soon as we receive word back from the carrier about your fax number registration.
After registration with our carrier is complete, faxes will now be able to be complete from any fax number to your German FaxMaker Online Fax Number.
