Solution
According to FaxMaker Online Error String Explanations, the Transmission Failed
error indicates that the receiving fax machine has answered and connected, but the fax was not able to be fully and successfully transmitted.
This situation can be caused by:
- Line quality issues, fax device issues, and the sharing of a phone line with other devices such as credit card processing terminals.
- Temporary conditions such as severe weather conditions in the destination area can also cause transmission failures.
These point to a fault on the receiving fax number end, which can be verified by calling the fax number and checking whether you obtain a fax tone. Getting a beep or normal phone line tone or no tone implies an issue with the phone line which should be checked with your carrier as transmission issues are out of support scope.
See Sending Faxes From Your Email Using FaxMaker Online for some important considerations to be aware of when sending faxes from your email.
Testing
Once the transmission issue is resolved and a fax tone can be heard when the fax line is dialed from a phone, send a test fax from your email client using the format: faxnumber@gfifax.com
; Replace faxnumber
with the full recipient’s fax number including the international dial symbol "+", as well as the country and area codes e.g. +441273123456@gfifax.com
Do not use hyphens, spaces, or dashes between any parts of the fax number.
