Overview
GFI FaxMaker Online users can reset their passwords through the Forgot password link on the FaxMaker Online landing page and following the reset instructions sent to the user's email address.
However, non-administrator users do not have permission to log on to the GFI FaxMaker Online portal, and any self-service attempt to reset passwords from the portal will fail. This article describes what causes password reset errors and the steps an administrator can take to resolve the issue for the affected users who receive the following error message:
The reset code is invalid. Request to reset your password again.

Solution
The above error occurs when non-admin users attempt to reset their password through the Forgot password link on the GFI FaxMaker Online Portal (FMO portal).
Only users configured under Settings > Administrators for the specified department are authorized to log on to the FMO portal. A user configured under Settings > Users for the specified department cannot log on to the FMO portal and therefore is unable to reset their password using the Forgot password link, even though they can still send and receive faxes via email.
In order for users configured under Settings > Users to have access to the FMO portal and have the ability to log in or change their password as necessary, an administrator account can be created for the user by following these steps using an administrator account:
- Log in to the GFI FaxMaker Online Portal using an administrator account.
- Navigate to Settings > Administrators as shown below:
- Click on the Add Administrator button and provide the user details as shown below:
- Clicking on Create will setup the user and allow them to log in to the GFI FaxMaker Online Portal using the new password created above and subsequently change their password as necessary through the Forgot password link.
Testing
The newly created user should now be able to log in to the GFI FaxMaker Online Portal and reset their password by clicking on the Forgot password link and thereafter following the instructions sent to their email address.
