Overview
A customer may request assistance to set up call forwarding from off-network numbers to their FaxMaker Online numbers and vice versa.
This article provides information on how to address number forwarding requests.
Information
Call forwarding to or from off-network numbers introduces jitter and latency into the fax call, which causes packet loss that can result in partial faxes, early disconnects, or outright negotiation failure.
Further, our infrastructure team has no insight or control over the leg of the transmission from the sender to the forwarded number, which inhibits our ability to effectively troubleshoot problems.
For this reason, FaxMaker Online does not support any form of call/number forwarding. We instead recommend that the forwarded number should be ported to our carrier so that faxes are routed to FaxMaker Online directly. See Porting Existing Fax Numbers to FaxMaker Online for more information on the porting process.
For scenarios where customers require the ability to forward fax calls to FaxMaker Online numbers for whatever reason, the solution would be to have the number ported out to the other carrier by following the steps outlined in Porting Fax Numbers to Another Carrier from FaxMaker Online. Keep in mind that you cannot port-out any number that was assigned to you unless you originally ported it into FaxMaker Online.
