Overview
There are occasions when a Memory or Kernel dump might be necessary. This article provides the instructions on how to complete these tasks.
Information
- Click Start, go to Run, type sysdm.cpl in the field and press Enter
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Click Settings under the Startup and Recovery area
- Under the Write debugging information area, make sure Complete memory dump (or Kernel Dump) is selected
- Note the dump file location
- Reproduce the crash
- Restart the machine and navigate to the dump file location
- Zip the dump file, rename file to your ticket number, and FTP the file to GFI (Instructions below).

To access the FTP Server
- Open the FTP in a Windows Explorer Window (not IE).
- Click on the File drop-down menu and select Login As...
- Enter the credentials above and copy the zip into the blank page.
Note:
- By default, Complete memory dump is disabled. You can enable the option if your computer has more than 2 GB of physical RAM.
- If you want to enable the Complete memory dump option, manually set the CrashDumpEnabled registry entry to 0x1 under the following registry subkey and restart Windows.
